It was barreled in 1951 and bottled in 1966. I can't give you specific flavor descriptions 30+ years later, but we treasured every sip of that stuff when we could get it.

I'd love to find a dusty of those memories somewhere!sam knoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082156144028140004.post-34274947142406468052012-11-21T00:15:44.296-08:002012-11-21T00:15:44.296-08:00I was fortunate enough to share in another of Howa...I was fortunate enough to share in another of Howard Cook's Old Fitzgerald collection, and was quite surprised at how much it held up, and how much I liked it. I definitely caught the sweetness, and the spice on the finish, but never would have thought to compare it to baby aspirin. I'll have to keep that in mind, should I ever run across Howard's second stash.

Thanks for your rundown on this... I'd be very curious to try some of the later (60s/70s) SW, but I'm guessing the chances are slim for that.Kevinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07750058195438298365noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082156144028140004.post-53732093339941337022012-11-16T13:51:16.011-08:002012-11-16T13:51:16.011-08:00Keith, sounds great. While the conventional wisdom is that bourbon does not age in the bottle, there are those who speak of "old bottle effect," an aging that takes place in the bottle, but of course, there is no way to know for sure since we can't really compare it to anything.skuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00487419662314518931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082156144028140004.post-10095494316162635332012-11-14T20:04:50.521-08:002012-11-14T20:04:50.521-08:00Can you tell to what extent has the bourbon been a...Can you tell to what extent has the bourbon been affected by the sheer amount of time that's passed since it's bottling?@alligatorcharnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082156144028140004.post-36999414658157051892012-11-14T19:16:58.636-08:002012-11-14T19:16:58.636-08:00You lead a charmed life, Sku.You lead a charmed life, Sku.Josh Feldmanhttp://www.cooperedtot.comnoreply@blogger.com
