I don't think they've ever done a barrel strength release. In fact, I don't know that I can think of any Brown Forman barrel strength release for any of their distilleries.skuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00487419662314518931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082156144028140004.post-58600384620129684932011-12-05T16:55:39.002-08:002011-12-05T16:55:39.002-08:00For ninety bucks (a 375?!), a whiskey geek might e...For ninety bucks (a 375?!), a whiskey geek might expect an age statement.

I don't know how long it would take to go from an entry proof of 86 (an interesting variable, BTW) to a bottling proof of 92.4, and if both are sold at exactly the same proof, there is at least a small amount of dilution before bottling, but it's still a crap shoot.sam knoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082156144028140004.post-5637503800612377012011-12-05T08:03:02.039-08:002011-12-05T08:03:02.039-08:00Sam, they do not disclose the age.Sam, they do not disclose the age.skuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00487419662314518931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082156144028140004.post-49522892718361117782011-12-05T07:04:52.726-08:002011-12-05T07:04:52.726-08:00Do they indicate the age of these whiskeys?Do they indicate the age of these whiskeys?sam knoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082156144028140004.post-68855138151535133482011-12-04T21:41:00.447-08:002011-12-04T21:41:00.447-08:00I'm getting my WR rye soon but have lowered ex...I'm getting my WR rye soon but have lowered expectations. Sam, you're right - so many people do things worth trying on their special releases that the challenge can be choosing your battles on what you'll hunt down and spend for.

Somehow none of the Masters' have managed to be decent-to-good. The best, I thought, was Seasoned Oak but not at the asking price.

I'm anticipating this being my last run at the Masters' as well. Far too many attempts, far too little success (and that Sonoma Cutrer is on a short list of worst whiskies I've ever had).Regular Chumpingtonhttp://www.scotchandicecream.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9082156144028140004.post-4484764918841233472011-12-04T18:56:26.215-08:002011-12-04T18:56:26.215-08:00What seems to be yet another instance of "exp...What seems to be yet another instance of "expensive whiskey without a point" from the folks at B-F. I've never bought one of this collection, nor will I until they prove that they're worthy of the price asked. Could be a long wait...sam knoreply@blogger.com
