Whiskey for Idiots: Kentucky Hummingbird
Do you like to pay a premium for whiskey you know nothing about and have never tasted? Do you believe the more expensive a whiskey is, the better it will taste? Are you an idiot?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then Kentucky Hummingbird is the whiskey for you! Kentucky Hummingbird is a mixture of barrels of Kentucky bourbon. Each barrel is being used exclusively for Kentucky Hummingbird, so this is your only chance to taste this special bourbon.
Some folks have said Kentucky Hummingbird tastes suspiciously like Pappy Van Winkle. Others swear it could be Four Roses. A prominent Master Distiller tasted it and said, "to be frank, I've had worse bourbon." Will you agree? For $200, you can decide for yourself. And keep in mind, if you don't buy it, some other idiot will buy it and try to sell it to you for $400, so this is a bargain!
Kentucky Hummingbird: It's so expensive, it's got to be good!
Oh my god! As far as I know this is the whiskey, I mean juice that was found in Robert E. Lee's outhouse. The South will rise again! (And I'm not simply talking about the fact that you'll throw up right after you take your first sip.)
ReplyDeleteMAO, I think you're thinking of Rebel Hurl - totally different whiskey.
ReplyDeleteOh, so that's what the word "whiskey" means. That's what other people call the [your favorite distillery here] juice I love to have several damn fine, healthy pours of. Good thing I've bunkered a few cases!
ReplyDeleteSku, I have it on good authority that this is Rebel Hurl under a different name (because of Obama). Don't believe everything you read on the internet, my friend!
ReplyDeleteEyed it marked-down to $149.99 and killed a few dusties for the JBS (Juice Bunker Stash). I don't dare ever drink anything from the JBS though. It's just the dark corner where I hide Craigslist inventory from the wife. PM me for store location... or if you're interested in purchasing my JBS.
ReplyDeleteSku, the greater fool theory in action..Whiskey has become a collectors game with many if not most over priced bottles being bought by folks believing there is even a greater fool who will pay more...remember that tulip thing a few years back. Who buys whiskey with no idea of how it tastes...apparently a lot of folks these days.
ReplyDeleteSome of us who have been around for a while just sit on the sidelines, shake our heads and eat popcorn. But then again it is kind of nice to dispatch a bottle of $45 whiskey from the bunker to buy a $1100 espresso machine and still have a few bucks left over to buy 2 really good bottles of whiskey.
Keep up the good work and I will get you off a few samples of the Indiana Dodo Bird Rye I just grabbed for $199......Only available on the island of Mauritius.
Sku, do you know which states Kentucky Hummingbird is available in? I need to get a bottle.
ReplyDeleteDoes this bourbon have a good backstory to it? I only like my bourbons with storied histories. Please tell me it has that so I can start trying to track down a bottle!
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is truth in advertising at its finest! I'll pass on this one though as I just got word from my underground sources that "Old Snake Oil bourbon" will be out soon. As it says on the label it's the finest kentucky sippin whiskey to ever come out of Indianna.
ReplyDeleteA $200 NAS whiskey from an NDP tastes so much better when it's backed by a group of idiots on social media!
ReplyDeleteOh Sku, it's such a hoot to read your blog.
ReplyDeleteY'all laugh, but right now there are 50 post-college d-bags in Williamsburg trying to figure out how to get their hands on some Kentucky Hummingbird ...
ReplyDeleteWhiskey is not a joke. It's a serious thing. When you make fun of whiskey, you're making fun of juice, plane and simple. You think you're enthusiastic, but all you do is make fun of whiskey juice. Some people rely upon high priced whiskey to earn their living. There's nothing funny about that.
ReplyDeleteWhiskey is serious business. Just ask the Treasury department.
ReplyDeleteIf this is a Kentucky Owl joke its not funny! KY Owl is a ancient family recipe, and the owner is a saint. Blogs and bullies are the problem with whiskey. Ur so mean.
ReplyDeleteWho?
ReplyDeleteThe bloggers, the bullies and Sku r mean. Ur making Dixon never want to make more Owl, or recreate any more ancient recipes. Hes crushed right now.
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteI had a sample of the Owl this weekend. Thought it was nicely balanced leaning toward the woody charred sugar thing but too thin and boozy to command the price.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, if you would have told me the price half way through the dram, I probably would have punched you in the neck.
Yeah, I saw that dude Doug trying to sell 8 year LDI for $200 because it had green ink... He definitely proved you right, idiots will buy anything, he sold a lot of them.
ReplyDeleteO god we all want history and backstory, don't we :-OO!!!
