This week's most interesting new labels from the federal TTB database:
Brown Forman cleared a label for Coopers' Craft, a no age statement bourbon that they call a "toasted wood whiskey."
Luxco cleared a label for Pact 2 of its Blood Oath Bourbon. This one is a blend of a rye bourbon, a wheat bourbon and a port finished rye bourbon.
Suntory cleared a label for the 2016 Yamazaki sherry cask.
We All Scream Department: Here's a label for BuzzBar, a cookies and cream flavored, bourbon infused ice cream bar weighing in at 2.05% abv. I like the graphic which looks like an Oreo being dipped a glass of bourbon.
Note: The fact that a label appears on the TTB database does not necessarily mean it will be produced. In addition, some details on the label, such as proof, can change in the final product.
I saw a label today that is a cask strength bourbon, 8 years old, but only 45%. Can that be right?
ReplyDeleteI've dipped vanilla Oreos in whisky before. Delicious!
ReplyDeleteAnon, if it was KY on Indiana bourbon, that seems highly unlikely. If it was a craft bourbon from elsewhere, it's certainly possible as different climates have a different impact on alcohol levels over time.
ReplyDeleteOr it entered a barrel at much lower than normal proof...
ReplyDeleteCould that "Coopers' Craft" simply be the toasted wood bourbon that Michter's is about to release? Brown Foreman makes their whiskey currently, and they only just in the last month started distilling at their own facility. Maybe they're planning on releasing their own variant once Michter's gets theirs on shelves.
