Burnside Bourbon
Burnside Bourbon is a four year old sourced straight bourbon bottled by Eastside Distilling in Portland, Oregon.
Burnside Bourbon, 4 yo, 48% abv ($25)
The nose is nice with plenty of spice and oak. The palate opens with spicy notes. It's quite dry and has a slight soapy note. The finish is spicy. Hmm. This tastes like MGP's high rye bourbon recipe.
This bourbon has a very nice nose and finish, but the palate is a bit flat. This is probably one I would use for cocktails.
Thanks to Eastside Distilling for the sample.

Oh yeah. Eastside. The triumph of marketing over authenticity.
Does the label say whether it was distilled in Kentucky or Indiana?
Todd, no.
I am always at a loss when people come to the store I work at and want "local" Portland Bourbon, since most of it is sourced anyways it's a hard thing to tell them not only is most of it sourced (Big Bottom, Burnside, Barrel Hitch and a few others that rarely garner interest anyways) but that they can get better whiskey for less.
I imagine $22 few would argue that OGB BIB is better value than Burnside 4yr. But nevertheless it does sell and based one Eastside's other products if they ever get around to releasing their own whiskey it ought to be good.
OGB?
OGD, my phone accidently a couple things.
Eastside is a rarity, in that they are a publically traded company so you can look at their financial statements. In their latest annual report it essentially said all the whiskey is sourced and always will be and no plans or capability to ever distill it. If you dig into it, they look a lot like a stock market pump-and-dump scheme, their exec compensation is roughly equivalent to gross profits and they've lost about $13M in the last 3 years trying to take their brand national.
